Okay, unless you’ve been in a cave or a coma for the past two weeks, you’ve heard plenty about the signature event for commercial copywriters: Copywriting Success Summit 2008, coming in October to a computer near you…
I know, we’re promoting the heck out of the thing, but hey, think about it:
1) It really IS the first event of its kind for our kind – those of us happily writing for businesses large and small (brochures, ads, newsletters, white papers, direct mail, web content, case studies, etc.) and for serious hourly rates reaching up to $125 and well beyond.
2) It features those people whose voices and advice you’ve been listening to, following and trusting for a long time: Bly, Slaunwhite, Stelzner, yours truly and others.
3) You’ll have the opportunity to connect with a whole community of other copywriters to share ideas and best practices, before, during and well after the Summit.
4) Every minute of all 12 sessions is accessible from your computer without ever leaving the house (and if you have to miss one, we’ve got you covered with recordings and transcripts).
Can you blame us for being pretty pumped?
But let me say this: I’ve seen and been an active part of the preparation for this event. I’ve been involved in the discussions about what subjects to cover to provide the most value to you, our colleagues in this business. I know the time and care I and the others have put into creating solid, valuable and relevant content designed with one overarching goal in mind: to help you make more money.
In addition, I was part of the crucial discussion about cost, and the importance of setting the price at a level where people felt they had some “skin in the game” but where it was still well within reach of most anyone. And yes, allowing us – the event’s producers – to profit as well. The definition of “win-win.”
Why would the Summit NOT be a fit for you? If you’re an experienced commercial copywriter, making a good writing income and been at it 5-10+ years, much of what we’ll discuss, frankly, may be familiar to you. Do I think you’d still benefit by attending? No question. Heck, given the cost of the thing, one new idea put to use would easily pay for the summit dozens of times over. But I know we all have priorities. Understood.
But, if you’re new to the business and trying to get established, OR been at it for a few years, making some progress, but definitely ready to ratchet things up to a new level of income and client caliber, well, you’re who we’re talking to here.
“Will it be worth it?”
Well, all we can do is provide the best and most topical training possible and the rest is up to you. Given the line-up of speakers and subjects and the sheer volume of training involved, I’m feeling pretty good about us holding up our end. So, the question simply becomes:
Are you ready to take action on some solid income-boosting marketing strategies?
If not, then the Summit could offer the greatest training known to man and it wouldn’t matter. If you are ready, then it would appear we’re both in the right place at the right time.
P.S. FYI, if you visit the link and our talking spokesperson starts getting a little irritating, just mouse over her and you’ll have options to shut her down/off/up.
Got any questions or concerns about the summit?
If you’ve signed up, want to share your circumstances and motivation for doing so? What do hope to get from it?
If it’s not for you, know anyone who should know about it? If so, can you forward on the information to them?
Hi Peter, I’ve begun reading your books recently and am just starting my business… great stuff! Thank you! Since I am new to the business/commercial writing field, would you say that most of what you cover in your books will be re-presented in these seminars (including others’ sessions)? I took a look at the topics and I’m not sure some of them will be applicable to the aim of my business (case studies, social networking sites, information product marketing). However some of them are obviously applicable. My main point is, can a new person learn all they need to by attending this summit or is there other essential information that your books (and others) will teach me? Thanks again for everything. ~Mike
I didn’t have to think twice about signing up for the Summit. I have paid as much as $79 for an hour with just one of the presenters, so this was a real bargain! Thanks for putting it together. The topics and presenters are the best. I am really looking forward to each session.
Thanks Sally for the vote of confidence! Glad you’ll be there.
And thanks, Mike, for the question. Given that I’m one of 4 presenters, there’s no way that everything that’s in my books will be repeated in the overall content. And in direct answer to your question, there will be a lot of new info in MY sessions not covered in my books. Not all by any means; it’d be exceedingly difficult to present ALL new information about a mature field, and you wouldn’t want to. There are certain fundamentals that you want to cover and those fundamentals can’t NOT be discussed. Rest assured, we’re NOT proceeding as if everyone is brand new to the business, but you will see some familiar ideas.
And don’t discount sessions like case studies and information marketing. May not be part of your mix right now, but case studies are becoming more and more important to companies and knowing how to put together a good one can position you nicely to be able to suggest such projects to clients who hadn’t thought of it. As for information marketing, again, maybe it’s something you hadn’t thought of doing, and maybe it’s nothing you’re ready to do right now, but if you could make a nice little passive income stream from something you created once, I can vouch, from firsthand experience, how nice that can be. “Seeds planted today” and all that good stuff…
Anyway, hope that helps and hoep you join us!

I have one question: Will I be able to get recordings and/or transcripts of ALL the sessions, even the ones I do attend? I’ll be taking notes, of course, but it would be nice to be able revisit the sessions again later, to review and maybe notice something I missed the first time through.
In any case, I’m really looking forward to this. I’m just getting started in this business, hoping to fulfill a life-long dream. The opportunity to get to know the presenters better, and to interact with colleagues, is something I’ve been wanting. More moral support is always welcome!
Hi Julie,
Thanks for the question!
These questions were added to the “Common questions answered” section:
I can’t attend all the live sessions? Will I get a recording?
Yes. We will provide a downloadable recording of each session, so you won’t miss a thing. If you have other commitments (like a day job), no need to worry.
Will there be transcripts?
Yes. We will provide transcripts of each presentation in Adobe PDF format. This will allow you to study and scan the content of each presentation. They will be available for 1 year.
Hope that helps and glad you can join us! http://www.copywritingsummit.com/pb

Hi Peter,
I signed up for the Copywriting Summit today after mulling it over for awhile. What moved me to sign up was the $200 discount that I think expires on September 25 and then the incredible “freebies” offered. When I did a quick calculation, I figure I get at least $400 worth of e-books, etc. just by registering. And, of course, I’m looking forward to your presentations! Can’t wait till the classes start on October 7!
Spot on with this write-up, I actually assume this website needs much more consideration. I’ll probably be again to learn rather more, thanks for that info.
